General Description: International Mosaic Down Syndrome Association (IMDSA) is the only organization in the world dedicated to providing support, information and research to those touched by mosaic Down syndrome. Mosaic Down syndrome (mDs) is a rare form of Down syndrome and often leaves families feeling isolated and alone in raising their child due to lack of information and local support. Since IMDSA's inception in 2001, we have reached thousands of families to provide them with much needed support and information. In addition to instituting these well received social support systems, IMDSA supports research in the field of mDs.
Major Responsibilities:

Act as liaison between IMDSA Board of Directors and researchers around the world

Remain up-to-date on mDs research
-
Update Board of important research/discoveries
-
Coordinates annual Student Research Scholarship
Qualifications:
-
Interests in Research – preferably an interest in genetics specific to T21
-
Well developed leadership and organizational skills
-
Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team
-
Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills
-
Proficiency with word document programs and internet skills
Expectations of board members:
-
Attend and participate in meetings on a regular basis, and special events
-
Participate on a standing committee of the board, and serve on ad-hoc committees as necessary.

Help communicate and promote IMDSA mission and programs to the community.

Understand the policies and procedures of the organization

Keep up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization
