Public Relations Officer :
This position requires 2-5 hours a week. The Public Relations Officer must have the skills to speak with the public and be able to write press releases when needed. The Public Relations Officer would be in charge of all publicity concerning IMDSA. Including, but not limited to, contacting related organizations through telephone, postal mail and/or electronic mail, contacting all media facets, and establishing relationships with corporations and medical professionals.
This officer must be a paid IMDSA member. Required to attend all monthly board meetings conducted by IMDSA through teleconferencing. Must have daily email access. It is preferred that the Public Relations Officer live inside the United States.
Family Connect Administrator :
The Family Connect Administrator would be in charge of directing the Family Connect representatives in their duties. These duties include:
- Ensure representatives have necessary materials to reach out to their community
- Ensure representatives understand and carry out their duties
- Be main contact person for representatives to report to on a monthly basis
- Attend and Report to Board of Directors at monthly board meeting (teleconference)
- Good organizational skills
- Good personable skills (able to speak with a variety of people and cultures)
- Self-Starter (training will be provided, but is expected to work independently as much as possible)
- Daily Internet access
- Availability to attend monthly board meeting (teleconference; second Saturday of the month)
- Must be paid IMDSA member
Family Connect Representative :
IMDSA is interested in Family Connect Representatives for each state and country in the world. The Family Connect Representative's duties include:
- Contacting and supplying materials to hospitals, clinics, therapists, DSA's or any other area where a person with MDS may be seeking assistance
- Contacting all media outlets (newspaper, radio, television, Internet) to increase public awareness of IMDSA and mosaic Down syndrome.
- Provide support to families in your area through brochures and information by listing your contact information on such forms and being available to speak with these families.
- Provide a monthly report on your interactions to be given to the Family Connect Administrator.
- Must be a family member, individual with MDS, or professional with special interest in the field
- Must read and understand the Family Connect information packet
- Must have an outgoing personality and the ability to speak publicly to various communities
- Must be available (with-in reason) to provide support to families in need.
