People with mosaic Down syndrome are at risk for several health problems. IMDSA recommends that all individuals with mosaic Down syndrome follow the Down Syndrome Health Care Guidelines to ensure a healthy life.

Some health and neurological risks include:

•  Congenital Heart Defects

•  Thyroid disease

•  Frequent Ear and Respiratory Infections

•  Vision impairments

•  Cataracts

•  Hearing Loss

•  Leukemia

•  Autism

•  Over-eating or obesity

•  Late eruption of teeth

•  Celiac disease

•  Sleep Apnea

•  Hirschsprung disease and other Gastro-intestinal disorders

•  Alzheimer's disease

•  Atlanto-axial subluxation

With proper medical checkups the majority of these health conditions are treatable.
