Applications will be accepted until March 31st, 2013 and awardees will be selected within one month of the application deadline. Topics for research are not limited to MDs, but can include studies on individual clinical features of MDs (ie. atrioventricular septal defects, autism, thyroid disorders). Chosen students may gain access to members of IMDSA for use in their research upon request. All studies involving IMDSA families require IRB approval. Scholarship funding is to be used at the awardee’s discretion for research expenses. Awardees may also apply for an additional $250.00 travel scholarship to fly to and from our biennial conference to collect and present data, and network with families of IMDSA. The next conference will be July 12th-14th, 2013 in San Antonio, TX. Exceptional projects can apply for a scholarship renewal the next year. At the culmination of the funding period (1 year), awardees are expected to submit a brief report on the progress made in their research which can be replaced by a journal publication authored by the awardee.
