Congratulations. It sounds like you know exlatcy what you want (and like). I'm a fiend for the cognitive, too. I'm a philosopher, though, so don't take any advice from me as far as the medical profession. However, if the human brain is what you desire, then don't let status or the desire to cut on people, derail you from what could truly be your passion. Note: You'll do much better, and go further within a field, in which you're truly passionate. You are right about the human brain I was on the receiving end of a hit-n-run accident that left me in a coma for 3 days. I suffered a TBI, and had to relearn how to walk and talk. I went back to UCLA one year later to graduate with College Honors. Far be it for me to try to influence such an important decision, but one will often find that serious, rational contemplation of options can never truly lead one astray. If research is calling you, then perhaps you should answer. Once the mind can cut like a samurai sword, why settle for a scalpel? Good luck.
